*drum roll* *air horn sound*
Queeries is a nationwide survey of LGBTQ architects and designers at various points in their career, including students and practitioners, regarding workplace and school conditions, challenges, and barriers in the profession.
The project takes the position that personal identities are political, and that quantifying and qualifying personal identities and experiences is important to both the diversity and sustainability of design professions. As LGBTQIA+ issues and queer spaces become increasingly important, engagement with the queer design community is vital to improve the design of inclusive spaces.

All of the questions are optional and anonymous - your email will not be recorded. So you can leave as many questions blank as you want/need. On the flip side, there are no word/character limits (as far as I know?!) so feel free to let it outtttt.
If you canβt finish it all in one sitting, I think that Typeform saves your responses for later, as long as you donβt clear your cache. But thereβs also a requirement to create a username/alias that you can use over and over, and Iβll be able to link your partial responses together.
Thank you to everyone who commented on last monthβs QA. This could not have been done without you! This first survey (and yes there will be more!) And of course I only have so many questionsβ¦ Iβm sure we can think up some more together.
Lookout for a follow-up in the future!! And a website!! And discussions on results!! Cannot guarantee I will be able to keep this up weeklyβmonthly is probably more realistic π₯΄π€
A new queer event has appeared!!!!!!!!!
Join AIA Chicagoβs LGBTQI+ Alliance and AIA Austinβs LGBTQIA+ Alliance for the virtual Building Equity event on Wednesday March 10th, 5:30-7:30PM CST. The event will feature a panel of esteemed speakers discussing design equity and the LGBTQIA+ community. We will also celebrate with a happy hour that features an interactive performance by Drag Queen Mini Pearl Necklace.Β
An equitable design profession is one where all peopleβregardless of their gender, race, sexuality, or disabilityβhave the same access to opportunities and growth. How can we build equity into our profession and cities? What are the challenges we must overcome to create environments where everyone is encouraged to bring their full and authentic selves? During the panel we will hear from leaders who are advancing equitable spaces in their cities and equitable cultures in their professions, including how theyβve navigated through barriers and their visions for successful strategies.Β
AIA members, non-members, students and allies are all welcome to attend. Feel free to join with the alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice. Register here: https://www.aiaaustin.org/event/lgbtqia-alliance-building-equity
