Transphobia and transmisogyny are borne out of the fear of change—anti-trans politics, policies, and laws don't erase the fact that trans people exist.
The survival and thrivance of trans people proves that gender is a fluid performance full of discovery and opportunity and growth and joy, not a rigid, violently exclusionary binary that narrowly dictates how life should and should not be lived.
The flexibility and radical acceptance of change that transness signifies is something the field of architecture—and design, more broadly—should embrace—not only to design more inclusively / for trans people, but also to respond to the climate crisis, late capitalism, and ongoing injustices around the world.
